My contributions to this blog will be short on analysis and more on long suffering emotion. Since I’ve suffered through the Cleveland sports scene more than “my boys”, I tend to be more emotional and less able to look at the big picture. However, I totally agree with them that it’s time to stop feeling sorry for ourselves - forget all that crap about jinxes and drives - even fumbles - and get on with our lives. Let’s think about our future - “always look forward, don’t look back”. That’s why we think LeBron will bring us to the promised land, that Man-Cock can make us a contender, that Shipiro will ……. Wait a minute — I might have to stop right there. I’m convinced that after 7 or 8 years, it’s time to let that horse out of the barn. It’s time to move on - start by sending Wedgie on his way, Shipiro should be next. Why — they officially lost the fan base after these latest two debacles. I’ve even suggested that Mr. Wood groved that pitched to Derrick Lee on Friday to help out his old team. I’m even more skeptical after he throws a wild pitch with a runner on third yesterday. Regardless - my next door neighbor, and ardent CLE sports fan for even longer than me, notified me yesterday that he’s done watching the Tribe - and highlighted it by proudly wearing his Browns t-shirt. Secondly, I’ve decided to wear one of my prized Indians shirts today - the one with my hero, Kenny Lofton’s name and number displayed on the back. If we are affected this way - they lost the average fan long ago. So, Mr. Dolan, it’s time to get LaPorta and Brantley up here and play them, establish a permanent starting lineup, (like most major league teams), and find a new manager. It’s already too late for this year, but having some potential young stars playing everyday might at least induce me to watch every once in a while. At least until Kerry Wood comes into the game And, no — I won’t write about golf either. Dad
