Breaking News: MIlwaukee has decided not to make a qualifying offer to Charlie Villanueva. This means he will be an unrestricted free agent.
A very surprising move given the trade of Richard Jefferson, which was being sold as a way to clear cap space so the Bucks could re-sign Ramon Sessions and Charlie. Maybe they’ve decided to settle on Amir Johnson, or maybe Charlie said he didn’t want to play for the team.
Given that Charlie wants to play for the Cavs (we can read between the tweets) and the Cavs need a young PF that can spread the floor and is athletic enough to defend on the wing, things should get interesting at 12am Wednesday.
I’ll try to come back later tonight or tomorrow to write a bit about Charlie’s game and the difference between him and Varejao - if it were to come down to the Cavs signing one or the other.
