It appears that the Indians and Red Sox are getting closer to making a deal for Victor Martinez, the center piece of which will be Clay Buchholz. The Red Sox are looking for a third team to try and deal recently acquired Adam LaRoche to in order to make room in their line-up for Victor.
You’ll remember that this is the deal I wrote an open letter to Theo Epstein about several days ago. I’m glad to hear he read it and is taking it to heart.
Oh, the picture. How could I forget? Sorry. While looking up Buchholz, so I could give my typical statistical analysis, I discovered that he is dating some girl named Erica Ellyson. That picture is Erica. She’s a Penthouse Pet.
The stats, if you still care, for Buchholz are:
8.3 SO/9 | .9 HR/9 | 4.6 BB/9
That’s over three seasons, starting 21 games, and entering 2 in relief. In the minors, and this is useful especially when thinking about the other minor leaguers the Indians have just traded for, Buchholz’s numbers look like this:
10.3 SO/9 | .6 HR/9 | 2.5 BB/9
Definitely a discrepancy, as one would expect facing lesser, impatient hitters.
Buchholz’s numbers in the bigs aren’t overwhelming, but he hasn’t even pitched a full season in the majors, is about to turn 25 in August, and has thrown a no hitter, so there’s reason to be positive.
Too many walks…
Penthouse.
See ya.
