We all knew this would happen - if he didn’t win. We all knew some of the players would be against him - if he didn’t win. We all knew he pissed off the local media and they’d be out to get him - if he didn’t win. We all knew the national media and members of other NFL organizations would be out bad mouthing him - if he didn’t win.
Have you noticed - he isn’t winning — and here come the insults.
I heard LeCharles Bentley rant and rave against Alpha Dog last Friday, even before they played the Ravens. He didn’t have one good thing to say about him. He reminded everyone that AD was a ball boy, never played in the NFL, brought in his “spies” from the Jets, etc.
I could go on and on.
Now, I don’t know if A-Dog is a good coach or not, but I do know that he thinks he’s a good coach. I think he believes that his way is the only way out of this mess. I do know that he doesn’t care what others say about him — it’s his show and he’s going to live — or die — doing it his way.
So, Alpha Dog has chosen to live in isolation — because his style alienates almost everyone around him.
I head one of Belicheck’s former players saying that at the start of his second year there, the Pats were 1 -2 , people were getting ready to run Billy out of town. Then, all of a sudden, they started to win and the rest is history — as they say.
So, what’s my point?
Alpha-D has — by nature of the way he does things - made a lot of enemies over the years. Now, a lot more people and players in C-Town hate him too.
I have to admit, the team looks like it’s getting worse instead of better.
But, a lot of this could — or maybe would - change if he would just win. If he can somehow turn this thing around - sure there would be some naysayers - but A-Dog would be a hero - just like Belicheck in New England.
Will it happen, who knows. All I do know is that the saying says No Man is an Island — but, the exception is Alpha Dog - and that’s the way he likes it.
I just hope he can win - otherwise the island will drift further and further away - and take Alpha Dog with it.
Then we’ll have to start all over again. I’m not quite ready to do that — not just yet
Dad
