The Diminishing Returns of Rebounds

Just came across this … an article on how teammates effect a player’s defensive rebounding. I was pretty sure I’d read something in the past that claimed an individual’s rebound rate wasn’t affected by other rebounders, i.e. if Da-wight “Butterscotch” Howard was playing next to Ben Wallace instead of Rashard Lewis, he’d get the same amount of rebounds he normally does.

This counters that. And it makes sense - there are only a certain number of available rebounds per game - which is why I had a logic issue with the old thing I’d read or heard … maybe it was in an email exchange with Holland and Petredis …. I can’t remember now.

Anyway, Cleveland played a game in Houston tonight, as Tim has told you. I’ve already forgotten that it ever took place.
