I tried to submit this after the Browns game — but, somehow screwed it up. I still think it’s worthwhile — but, obviously a little dated by now.
Anyway …… here goes
So, last night was my first experience watching a game on NFL TV or whatever it’s called. I have to tell you — I’m not paying money for that crap.
I’ve never heard an announcer use the word “sucker” before, but those guys used it several times.
However, my real complaint was their discussions about Alpha Dog himself. Suddenly, because the Browns were actually putting up a fight, Alpha Dog has a great program going. Suddenly, he’s got a great process in place to bring in talent. Suddenly, there is promise because of Alpha Dog’s system.
At least according to that crack team of NFL TV announcers.
Did I fall asleep somewhere? We only have one win, right — before last night. We’ve watched debacle after debacle for weeks - those announcers obviously haven’t seen them play.
So, I’m not quite ready to declare the Alpha Dog test a success. Yes, they are playing hard lately. Yes, they looked good last night — but, I’m not quite ready to annoint him coach of the year, just yet.
Let’s see what happens the rest of the year. Let’s see if they can really keep this up. Let’s see if they can win any more games.
If they play better, win a game or two, by the end of the season — I might be on board to give him a second chance next year. However, those are big “ifs” - as far as I’m concerned.
Let’s just wait and see, cause unlike those “suckers” on NFL TV, I’m not convinced Alpha Dog is the answer - not yet, anyway.
