Link to a Wayne Winston post about the impact his (somewhat noisy) model of Adjusted Plus Minus shows Shaq is having on the Cavs.
The bottomline is that the Cavs are amazing with Bron, Andy, Mo, and Delonte on the floor simultaneously … doesn’t even matter who the 5th guy is … but that Shaq, overall, is holding the team back.
What this can’t account for is specific match-ups, obviously, which gets into a whole other, interesting conversation efficiency differential in the regular season versus the post season. As I’ve written before, regular season success is the best indicator of post season success - almost ridiculously so - but it doesn’t always account for things like Golden State’s insane 8 over 1 upset of Dallas in 2007 playoffs.
The other thing is that these numbers will adjust over the course of 82 games.
