
This is going to be an abbreviated post tonight because I feel as if my effort should match the effort that the Cavs put forth a few short minutes ago.
LeBron had three rebounds. He was 9-23 from the field. Shaq was 1-7. Mo missed two free throws in a row. The team had only 17 assists.
To me, it looked like the Cavs played the first three quarters figuring that all they’d have to do was keep the game close … and then in the fourth, Dallas would be without Dirk, they wouldn’t be able to close, and the Cavs would get an easy win.
Well … didn’t happen.
What irritates me as … I guess a human being … isn’t so much that the Cavs played an effort-light game in the first game of a four game road trip, in a week where most every one else in the country is about to go on vacation, it’s that Shaq and LeBron both spent Friday night’s post game interviews talking about how this was a “business trip,” suggesting maximum focus, etc. etc.
In other words, I feel like Shaq and Bron publicly lied about their approach. As a fan of hard work, the game of basketball, and integrity, that displeases me.
Phoenix Monday night. Cavs have now put themselves in a position where they almost have to beat the Suns so that the road trip doesn’t become a potential disaster, with the Lakers game on Friday looming. Shaq also said that they plan on going 4-0 or 3-1 on the trip, so…
