ABJJ #3 - Jawad Williams

The Wad

Or should I say “Hot Wad” Williams.

Anyway, this column has probably jumped the shark since T urged me to do this version earlier in the week.  Well, I planned to do this Sunday, but the Joe Flacco fiasco overwhelmed me.

So, I digress … .

Anyway, I have to say, even though its a very small sample - Wad has been pretty impressive so far.  In fact, I forget he’s really 6’ 9” or so, because he’s pretty athletic for someone that tall.

Yes, JJ did have a couple of good moments last night on the defensive end — and a dunk during his 2 minute flurry of activity.  (Not sure what he was doing for the other 10 1/2 minutes he was on the floor).

However, J-Wad might not be as flashy but he certainly seems steady, plays good defense all the time, (in fact, I’m told he’s responsible for guarding LBJ during practices), can shoot, and seems to have that elusive “basketball IQ” Coldstone is always talking about.  (Something JJ seems to lack — big time).

So, what do you say, let’s give Hot Wad a shot, once Jamario returns from his injury.  What do we have to lose — except a few TOs - that we get now when JJ fails to cut to the basket or go to the ball when a pass goes in his direction.

We might not need that trade for Jamison afterall.  That’s money I’d like to save for the 2010 free agency circus.

Holla at the original Hot Rod Williams, wherever he might be
