The title of this post should have some significance to M & T, but it should also be significant for many others. Why - because I said it and I don’t use those specific words unless I am really, really serious. The Cavs this year are truly awesome!
This revelation came to me last night when I found out that Miami just beat Charlotte and the old Celtic men went down to Texas and beat the Mavs - the team that every analyst I’ve been watching has been touting as a contender in the West (since their trades).
These two games turned on the light for my revelation. Why — because the Cavs have dispatched both the Heat and the Celtics with relative ease lately - at least only forcing LBJ to totally exert himself for brief periods of time.
I know this is the NBA and any team can win on any night. I also know that because they play so many games, upsets will occur. However, I also know that the Cavs have only lost 15 games and their schedule was among the toughest in the league early on.
Now, with the worst of their schedule behind them, they are playing a series of boring games, hardly inspired basketball — but still winning those games. Throw in all the injuries, the trade, etc and their run is even more amazing. For all of you doubters, we’ll even toss in some of Coldstone’s player rotations as problematic - and they still keep winning.
The fact that they haven’t lost recently - from sheer boredom - is amazing. Now, think about their flexibility; they can play small, they can run, they play tough defense, and they have great depth. The Cavs are determined to not be turned back this time - oh, I almost forgot, they have LeBron James!
And it gets even better because Z will return this week with the Shaq-Monster lurking in the shadows. Once they return, they can field one of the tallest lineups in the NBA.
So, while most of these other teams struggle to win on a nightly basis, the Cavs keep rolling merrily along — and along — and along.
Yes, there are huge obstacles ahead, teams like Orlando and whichever team makes it out of the west, but none have been as consistent as the Cavs. All you stats nuts out there lose me sometimes, but one stat that makes sense to me is point differential — and the Cavs are either leading or in second place in the league. That’s one item I can point to as proof of their dominance.
So, yes, their is a long way to go — but, this team is awesome. I’m telling you this now cause I’m still waiting for that parade downtown. I’m more hopful than ever that this is the year.
If it happens, all JMID fans can join me at the website party downtown.
I’m buying!!
Holla!
